Dyson x Balmain
Hair stylist: Sam McKnight
Hair health was front of mind for styling stalwart, Sam McKnight, Lead Stylist for the Balmain show. The Dyson CorraleTM straightener launched back in March 2020 and this was the first time Sam had used the tool backstage. Sam praise the control provided by the tool’s unique copper flexing plates that shape to gather the hair. This technology enabled him to achieve the signature striking, sexy styles of the show yet with half the damage – and quicker.
The tool’s pioneering microhinged plates flex to adapt to the hair section being styled, applying heat and tension more evenly to all hair strands in each pass, keeping them perfectly aligned and reducing the reliance on heat. Each plate is precision machined to 65 microns – the width of a human hair – and tourmaline edged to produce ionising properties that help reduce static.
Designer Olivier Rousteing staged an al fresco catwalk at the Jardin des Plantes. The full performance battery technology within the Dyson CorraleTM straightener offered cord-free versatility to style models at anytime, both indoors and outdoors.
Delivering an effortless, modern cool girl look, Sam praised the Dyson CorraleTM straightener’s Intelligent Heat Control – which regulates the temperature output from the plates 100 times per second – helping to keep models’ hair healthy. He said: “We love healthy hair, because healthy hair is sexy hair, it’s modern hair.”
To achieve this look, Sam used the Dyson Corrale™ straightener to create a naturally straight style with a subtle wave – not over straightened as is often the result when styling with conventional fixed plate straighteners. Sam described the look as: “Some kind of ease, some kind of modernity, that’s not too complicated. A girl whose hair always looks great and is not overstyled. It’s much more natural,a subtle but very healthy look.”
