Frequently asked questions - Hair Stylers

Why are there different Dyson Airwrap™ stylers and attachments?

Not everyone has the same hair type or wants the same style, so we've designed different attachments to work for different hair types and create different styles. We've created three styling sets with attachments for specific hair types and a set with attachments for multiple users or styles.

Can I use the Coanda smoothing dryer on any hair type?

The Coanda smoothing dryer has two modes, Drying and Smoothing. The Drying mode can be used on any hair type to pre-dry hair or set finished styles. The Smoothing mode can be used to hide flyaways and works best on naturally straight or wavy hair. It also works on straightened hair of any type.

Does my hair have to be wet to start styling?

Yes. For best results, start with freshly washed hair. All our brushes can be used on wet hair, but the barrels work best on damp hair. Use the Coanda smoothing dryer in Drying mode to get hair to damp before styling with the barrels.

Will these new attachments work with my existing multi-styler?

Yes, our re-engineered attachments are fully compatible with every Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler.

How to curl your hair?

Using the Dyson Airwrap™ multi-styler to curl your hair is a bit different compared to traditional curling methods, but with a few simple steps, you can achieve beautiful, natural-looking curls:

  1. Choose the appropriate attachment for your desired curl type and attach it to the Dyson Airwrap™ wand.
  2. Hold the Dyson Airwrap™ wand close to your hair, and allow the airstream to do the work. The machine will automatically wrap your hair around the barrel or brush, creating a natural-looking curl.
  3. Use the Cold Shot button to lock in the curl.
  4. Release the curl from the Dyson Airwrap™.
  5. Continue with the next section of hair until you have achieved the desired look.
How to fluff your hair?

To fluff your hair:

  1. Start by brushing or combing through it to remove any tangles or knots.
  2. Then, use a volumizing mousse or hairspray to add texture and lift to your roots.
  3. Finally, flip your head upside down and use your fingers to gently tease your hair, creating volume and fullness.
How to use a hair styler?

The steps to use a hair styler can vary depending on the type of styler you have, but here are some general guidelines:

  1. Prep your hair: Start by washing and drying your hair.
  2. Plug in the styler: If your styler is corded, plug it in and allow it to heat up according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Section your hair: Depending on the size of your styler and the look you want to achieve, you may need to section your hair into smaller sections. Use clips or hair ties to keep each section in place.
  4. Start styling: Begin styling your hair with the styler, starting at the roots and working your way down to the ends. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific type of styler you have. For example, if you're using a curling iron, wrap small sections of hair around the barrel and hold for a few seconds before releasing.
  5. Repeat: Once you finish one section of hair, move on to the next until all of your hair is styled.
  6. Finish with product: To help your style last longer, you may want to use a styling product such as hairspray or a texturizing spray.
  7. Unplug and store: Once you're finished using the styler, unplug it and allow it to cool completely before storing it in a safe place.
