Jen Atkin’s favorite holiday tools and styles
Celebrity Stylist and Dyson Global Styling Ambassador shows you how to get the most out of your style using Dyson haircare tools.
On Wednesday, December 1, celebrity stylist and Dyson Global Styling Ambassador, Jen Atkin, and Dyson Expert, Natalie Gregor, shared their expert tips for hair styling for the holidays with Dyson’s advanced haircare technology on Dyson Live.
Dyson Live is a live shopping event that features interactive chats with Dyson experts, resulting in a seamless shopping experience to buy the products featured on Dyson.com.
“Dyson obsesses over hair health. They study everything from airflow dynamics and the cellular structure of hair to types of hair damage. Their attention to detail is one of the things I love most about Dyson’s technology.”
- Jen Atkin, Dyson Global Styling Ambassador
Between the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer, Dyson Airwrap styler and Dyson Corrale straightener, Dyson’s hair tools are some of the most awarded tools of 2020, based on industry recognized awards.
Dyson Corrale straightener
The Dyson Corrale straightener is the result of more than 600 hours of global testing on different hair types. Instead of traditional inflexible plates, the Corrale has manganese copper alloy flexing plates that allow for greater flexibility and better thermal conduction. It’s also cord-free thanks to Dyson’s pioneering battery expertise to create a 4-cell lithium-ion battery.
Using the Corrale for waves: Gather the hair at the top and then turn inwards, pull down and turn outwards, then pull down before releasing it. Continue with slow, even passes repeating throughout the hair.
Using the Corrale for curls: Start at the top of a strand of hair and rotate the Corrale 360 degrees. Then slowly glide through the hair. Continue this throughout the hair.
Dyson Supersonic hair dryer
The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer took more than 4 years to develop, with over 600 prototypes. It increases smoothness by 78%, helps increase shine by 132% and helps decrease frizz and flyaways by up to 61% [1]. Powered by Dyson’s powerful Digital Motor V9, the Supersonic has 4 precise heat settings and 3 airflow settings. It now comes with 5 magnetic styling attachments to help create a variety of styles.

Smooth Styles with the Flyaway attachment: Flyaways are the shorter hairs that don’t align with your longer hairs. The Flyaway tool uses the Coanda effect to lift long hairs to the front and push the broken, shorter hairs back where you can’t see them. Use this attachment at the end of the styling process to finish a smooth, sleek style.
Curly Styles with the Diffuser: The Diffuser attachment is engineered to disperse air around curls to simulate natural drying to help reduce frizz and define curls and waves. Long prongs reach deep into hair and the inner mesh disperses airflow evenly.
Dyson Airwrap Styler
The Dyson Airwrap styler uses air to curl, wave, smooth and dry hair. All without extreme heat. Using the Coanda effect, an aerodynamic phenomenon where a jet of air attaches itself to a curved surface, the Airwrap gently attracts and wraps hair to style it. To prevent extreme heat damage, the Airwarp has intelligent heat control that measures heat settings 40 times a second. The Airwrap is best used to style from wet to dry as it uses airflow to set the style.
Bouncy Curls with the Airwrap: Hold a portion of hair a few inches from the end. Introduce the end to the Airwrap barrel and you’ll see the machine attract and wrap the hair with air. Bring the Airwrap towards your scalp and hold there until the hair is dry to the touch. Hit the cold shot buttons and then turn off the machine to release the curl.
