Run the machine

Run the machine for at least as long as it took for the symptoms to appear previously, but for no longer than three minutes.

As changing the filter cage addressed the symptoms, this means the original filter cage is dirty and needs to be cleaned. Please follow the procedure on how to clean the filter.

Clean the filter

Please follow the steps in the video.

Turn the product off, and unplug it from the socket.

Remove the dirty filter cage.

Do not run your hair dryer without a filter cage.

Soak the filter cage in dish soap and warm water for at least 30 minutes or overnight.

Use the supplied filter cleaning brush and vigorously scrub the soaked filter cage to remove all blockages for 15 seconds.

Rinse and dry your filter cage.

Check that the filter cage is clean by holding it up to the light - you should be able to see light through it. If you can't, repeat the previous step.

Importance of filter maintenance

As air is drawn into the hair dryer, through the filter, contaminants in the air are pulled in too. The robust filter protects the motor, delivering powerful airflow which may result in faster dry times for your clients.

It’s necessary to clean your hair dryer’s filter to ensure it’s working at its best.

We recommend you clean the filter at least once a week. In salon environments, where filters can clog quickly, we recommend cleaning it every day.

Is the problem with the airflow or the temperature?

The direction of airflow from the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer is from the opposite side to the controls.

To increase the airflow, press the 'Airflow control' button on the back of the appliance until you have three white LED lights. The available settings are:

One white light - gentle styling

Two white lights - regular drying

Three white lights - fast drying

If this has not resolved the problem, remove the filter cage from the machine.

Temperature

The Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer is intelligent. It has a clever microprocessor which regulates temperature to help prevent extreme heat damage to protect natural shine. The maximum operating temperature in normal working conditions is up to 105°C/221°F.

To increase the temperature, press the 'Temperature control' button on the back of the appliance until you have three red LED lights. The available settings are:

One red light - low gentle drying

Two red lights - medium regular drying

Three red lights - high fast drying and styling

Check the machine

Check that the household electrics are on.

Check the plug and power cord for signs of damage.

Try the machine in a different plug socket.

This indicates that your appliance's filter needs to be cleaned.

Remove the filter cage from the machine.

Has this resolved the problem?

Unusual smell

If this is the first use, please remove the clear film.

Check if the customer has decorated their machine as heat from the hair dryer could cause glue to melt.

Within the first few uses it is normal to expect a smell from any brand new appliance with a heater element (e.g. toaster/ oven/ kettle etc.) The smell will fade with time and usage.

If the smell still occurs after a few uses, please select the appropriate smell.

WARNING: Do not use any lubricants, cleaning agents, polishes or air fresheners on any part of the appliance.

To clean the Main body of the appliance, use a dry cloth. Ensure that the narrow opening is free of obstructions.
