The paper towel industry claims the surface of a Dyson hand dryer is more contaminated with bacteria than a paper towel dispenser. However, the University of Florida study shows that surface contaminants are not unique to hand dryers and can be found on almost all touch points in a washroom, including faucets, door handles, sinks and even paper towel dispensers. In fact, the Dyson Airblade V dryer and Dyson Airblade dB dryer have an antimicrobial additive integrated into the exterior coating.
