Can I use the Flyaway smoother attachment on any hair type?

Smoothing mode works best on straight or slightly wavy hair.

Flyaway mode must be used on dry hair and works best on naturally straight or wavy hair, or straightened hair of any type.

How do I change styling modes?

The Flyaway smoother has a rotating mechanism that allows for a multi-functional styling tool. To switch modes, rotate the end cap of the attachment until you hear an audible ‘click’ sound.

Is the Flyaway smoother attachment compatible with all versions of the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer, including older machines?

Yes, the Flyaway smoother is compatible with all previous versions of the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer.

What’s the improvement vs the existing Flyaway attachment?

Building on the success of the previous Flyaway attachment, we’ve re-engineered it to address more customer requirements and add extra functionality. The Flyaway smoother has dual functionality in one tool, aligning with Dyson’s sustainability values. You can use the tool from wet in Smoothing mode, to dry, align and smooth the hair. Then, as your ultimate finishing tool, Flyaway mode performs exactly like the previous Flyaway attachment, giving your straight/straighter style a smooth, shiny finish by lifting longer hairs and hiding flyaways.

How do I clean the Flyaway smoother attachment?

In case of product build up on the bristles, wipe them with a clean, damp cloth.

Is the Flyaway smoother attachment sold as part of the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer offering? Is it also sold separately?

In the United States, the Flyaway smoother is sold as an accessory for additional purchase and is not part of the offering of the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer. In some markets, it is sold as part of the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer. Please check your local website for the most up to date information.

Can the Flyaway smoother attachment be used on wet hair?

Yes, the Flyaway smoother can be used on wet hair in Smoothing mode. We suggest the following styling routine:

1. Rough dry to 70% with the bare product or gentle air attachment, combing through any tangles

2. Use the Flyaway smoother in Smoothing mode to dry, align and smooth the hair

3. Finish with the Flyaway smoother in Flyaway mode to hide flyaways behind longer hairs

Flyaway mode has been engineered for use on dry hair as a finishing tool.

Aside from the new Flyaway smoother attachment, is there anything different about the machine itself?

The Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer itself is unchanged, with all the same key features and benefits. The re-engineered attachment has been designed to add extra styling functionality.
