Use Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream before styling, on towel-dried hair, to prime, hold and condition. Dyson Chitosan™ Post-style serum is designed for use on dry, styled hair to define, hold and hydrate your look. Each product has a range of key ingredients that support additional benefits to the hair, including less frizz, a conditioned feel, natural movement, smoothness and shine.

Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream has four formulations, precisely blended for each hair type. Dyson Chitosan™ Post-style serum is blended for all hair types.

The Pre-style cream is the foundation product for style retention. You can choose between four formulas depending on your natural hair shape and texture. When you apply to wet hair prior to styling, it will give your hair 2x longer hold* with a natural look and feel.

The Post-style serum is great for finishing your styles. You can use it to reduce frizz for a smooth finish* on straighter styles, or on natural curls to add definition.

Our Dyson Chitosan™ products are compatible with all styling routines, no matter the tool you’re using. 

However, Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream and Post-style serum are the only styling products specifically designed and tested to work with Dyson hair care devices, following the same engineering mindset. Less is more with our Dyson Chitosan™ products. We recommend starting with 2-5 pumps, building more as needed for your hair texture and length. Our Dyson-engineered applicator is rigorously tested to deliver 0.23ml every time, pump after pump, so once you’ve established the right amount for your hair, you can count on your dosage, every time. 

Identify your hair type by thinking about what shape it dries in naturally. There are four main hair types:

Type 1

Very straight hair or hair with some loose bends and waves.

Type 2

Wavy hair with a more defined S-shape.

Type 3

Curly hair with loose curls to tighter ringlets.

Type 4

 Our Post-style serum is designed for use after styling and can be used on all your favorite styles. How you apply the Post-style serum may vary slightly based on the styles you’re looking to achieve.

Our Pre-style cream has been engineered to prime your hair before drying and styling wet hair for touchable, 2x longer hold,* with a lightweight natural feel. We have formulated four variants for different hair types and conditioning preferences. 

Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream should be applied to damp, towel-dried hair, before drying and styling.

Each formula contains the same level of our hero ingredient, chitosan, to create flexible hold in your hair.

In addition to chitosan, each variant has been precisely blended with different levels of other key ingredients - including emollients, conditioners, and emulsifiers - to suit different hair shapes and textures.

Choosing the right Pre-style cream variant for your hair comes down to two key factors and is based on your natural hair shape and texture, rather than the end style you're looking to achieve.

First, determine your hair shape. Our Pre-style cream is tailored to two groups of hair shapes: straight to wavy, and curly to coily. To find which applies to you, imagine your hair has been washed and left to air-dry. What shape do the majority of the strands take?

Second, decide your conditioning preference. If your hair strands are finer, or your overall hair density thinner, choose a light conditioning formula. If your hair is thicker, in strand diameter and/or density, or is more dry or damaged, you may prefer a rich conditioning formula.

The amount of Pre-style cream that’s right for you will vary depending on factors such as your hair length, density, thickness and condition.

Apply the Pre-style cream from your mid-lengths to ends, before using your favorite hair styling tool to dry and style.

You can use the Pre-style cream as often as you like in line with your washing and styling routine. Remember, it’s best to start with freshly washed hair, and our Pre-style cream should be applied to damp, towel-dried hair before drying and styling.

All of our full-size styling products have refillable packaging. When you’re approaching the end of your original product, simply order a refill and follow the instructions on the cartridge to replace. Your used cartridge can be recycled at home.

Our Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream contains small quantities of silicones. It is a common misconception that all silicones are bad for the hair and lead to build-up. The silicones we use in our Pre-style cream are designed to help control frizz, while maintaining shiny hair.

The silicones in our formulations are water-soluble so they can be easily washed out. Proven through rigorous testing.

No, our Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream is paraben-free.

No, our Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream is sulphate-free. 

To achieve the best results when using your Dyson Chitosan™ Pre-style cream, we recommend using on hair that is at least 50% towel-dried and distributing evenly through the lengths of your hair. If you are not achieving your desired results, try adding a bit more product to your hair.

To return a Dyson.com purchase for a full refund, you need to return the product within 30 days from the delivery date. For purchases made at a Dyson Demo Store or Dyson Service Center, a return must be made within 30 days from the purchase date. Dyson Direct will pay for return shipping.

The Dyson Chitosan™ Post-style serum has been engineered for all hair types to help your finished style feel moisturized, soft and smooth, with two-times longer hold.*

Dyson Chitosan™ Post-style serum should be applied on dry, styled hair. Work through your hair with your fingers to smooth, define and enhance your style.

Once your hair is dry and styled, pump to dispense product. Start with 1-2 pumps and sheer between palms. For straight sleek looks, smooth through the lengths of your hair. When creating curled or naturally curly styles, use your fingers to work the product through each section. To enhance natural curls, work through each curl, defining the shape of your hair.

Apply more as needed for your hair length and texutre.

Less is more with our Post-style serum. We recommend starting with 1-2 pumps, building as needed for your hair.

Our Dyson-engineered applicator is rigorously tested to deliver the same amount pump after pump, so once you’ve established the right amount for your hair, you can count on your dosage, every time.

We test all of our formulations to relative 80% humidity in our labs to give you confidence that your styles can last, even in high humidity.

Our Dyson Chitosan™ styling products have a delicate fragrance that are a blend of green and floral notes. Sparkling bergamot, soft florals, and warming cedarwood and musk define our signature fragrance.

Dyson Chitosan™ inner cartridges are recyclable. 

The outer sleeve, pump and magnetic cap have been designed for reuse and are not recyclable.

Our formulations have been tested rigorously on adults and proven to be safe. We do not recommend for usage on children or babies. Instead, we highly recommend using hair products that have been tested and have been proven to be safe for children and babies. 

Yes, there are no safety concerns for pregnant users.

We do not recommend using our hair products on pets. Our Dyson Chitosan™ products have only been used and tested on humans.

Once opened, the shelf life of your full-size Dyson Chitosan™ products should be used within 12 months. Unopened, the shelf life of your full-size Dyson Chitosan™ products is 3 years.
