Frequently asked questions

What is an allergy-friendly vacuum?

An allergy-friendly vacuum is designed to make life more comfortable for people living with allergies. These machines pick up microscopic allergen particles and fine dust in the home and often feature de-tangling technology to remove hair. Our latest vacuums give scientific proof of a deep clean and is engineered to reveal, capture, and trap the dirt and hair left by people and pets. Our latest pioneering vacuum technology comes with fully-sealed filtration. So allergen particles remain inside.*

Does HEPA filtration remove allergens?

HEPA filtration is effective at removing allergens.* HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filtration is a specific classification of particle removal performance. In order to achieve a HEPA classification, a filtration system must remove at least 99.95% of airborne solid particles of a specific size. That size is set at the worst-case performance of the filtration system, the most-penetrating-particle-size, or MPPS. Most filtration systems have an MPPS around 0.1 to 0.3 microns, which is smaller than most airborne allergen* carriers. This means HEPA systems capture allergens* at a rate of at least 99.95%.

Does vacuuming help reduce allergens?

If pet hair and allergens are a problem for you, it’s recommended to use a vacuum with extra strong suction power, and to vacuum your home on a regular basis. Don’t allow dust, pet hair and dander to accumulate. It’s also important to vacuum your mattress and upholstery. Thanks to new, unique technology, Dyson cordless vacuums can detect and pick up even the tiniest dust particles and hair.
