Inside the machine
-
Intelligent heat control
Glass bead thermistors, located in the machine arms, regulate airflow temperature up to 30 times per second to prevent heat damage and protect hair’s natural shine.
-
Dyson Hyperdymium™ motor
A 13-blade impeller spins up to 106,000rpm, propelling 11.9 liters of air through the machine per second. This generates 3.6kPa of air pressure, powerful enough to straighten hair as it dries.
Why straighten from wet?
-
Style reset
When hair is wet, its hydrogen bonds are more pliable and easier to 'reset'. Using a combination of moisture and airflow, hair can be styled effectively – without heat damage.⁴
-
The science of shine
Using lower temperatures and resetting the hair's bonds from wet mean its internal structure is protected, so it can reflect more light for a shiny finish.⁴

Engineered to maintain hair strength
Maintain strength. Protect shine. Our hair care innovation that combines our expertise in airflow with everything we've learned about hair styling to pioneer a new way to straighten – without heat damage.⁴

Frequently asked questions
Can I use my Dyson Airstrait™ straightener on dry hair?
Yes, you can use the Dyson Airstrait™ to touch-up and refresh your style from dry. To use on dry hair, select Dry mode and choose between the pre-set temperatures, depending on your hair type and intended style.
Will my straightener turn off if I accidentally leave it on?
Your Dyson Airstrait™ will enter auto-standby after five minutes of inactivity when the arms are left open, or three minutes if the arms are locked. The LCD screen will turn off and you'll need to press the power button to turn the machine back on.
Does the Dyson Airstrait™ straightener operate at high altitudes?
As altitude increases, atmospheric pressure decreases, which can impact the performance of some hair styling tools by reducing the airflow rate entering and exiting the machine. If you reside in a high-altitude location and wish to buy a Dyson Airstrait™ straightener or already own one and encounter challenges using it at 6,561 ft above sea level, please seek advice from a Dyson Expert.
Your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener should only be used in the region it was purchased.
Can I use my Dyson Airstrait™ straightener when travelling to countries with different electrical voltage?
Your straightener has been precisely engineered for styling at the voltage of the country in which it was purchased. This allows it to run at optimum performance. As voltage varies from country to country, please follow the guidance on usage in the guarantee section of your user manual.
How often do I need to clean the filter?
To maintain optimum performance, your Dyson Airstrait™ straightener needs regular care and maintenance. We recommend cleaning the filter once a month. Debris should be wiped from the outer filter cage and from the inner filter mesh using a soft, dry cloth.
Do I need to clean my machine?
Yes, we recommend regular cleaning of your machine for optimum performance. You can find detailed instructions on how to clean and deep-clean your filter, tension bars and diffusers in your online user guide, on our Support pages or on your MyDyson™ app.
