The paper towel industry claim that the surface of a Dyson Airblade™ hand dryer is more contaminated with bacteria than a paper towel dispenser. But with an antimicrobial additive in its surface coating, it helps prevent the growth of bacteria. And all Dyson Airblade™ hand dryers have infrared sensors which operate the air – meaning wet hands don’t touch the hand dryer.

Helps prevent bacteria growth

The paper towel industry claims the surface of a Dyson hand dryer is more contaminated with bacteria than a paper towel dispenser. However, the University of Florida study shows that surface contaminants are not unique to hand dryers and can be found on almost all touch points in a washroom, including: faucets, door handles, sinks and even paper towel dispensers.

In fact, the Dyson Airblade V dryer and Dyson Airblade dB dryer have an antimicrobial additive integrated into the exterior coating. With proper cleaning and maintenance, this additive helps prevent the growth of bacteria and mold on the surface of the hand dryers.

Conducted by an epidemiologist from the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Florida’s College of Medicine.

What it proves: The surface of a Dyson Airblade™ hand dryer is no more contaminated than any other high-touch area in the washroom.
