What is the difference between the Professional and Consumer Supersonic hair dryer?
The Professional edition is re-engineered especially for stylists and busy salon environments. Key features exclusive to the Professional edition include:

What maintenance is required for the machine?
At the heart of the Supersonic is the latest Dyson digital motor V9. It’s our smallest, lightest, advanced digital motor. It spins 3X faster than conventional motors at over 110,000 revolutions per minute. That’s a lot of air being pulled in!
As air is drawn into the hair dryer, through the filter, contaminants in the air are pulled in too. And during heavy traffic periods, the amount of contaminants can increase at a faster rate. Keeping your filter clean protects the motor, delivering powerful airflow which may result in faster dry times for your clients.
In order to keep the machine at optimal performance, we recommend cleaning the filter at least once a week or more frequently during high traffic periods.
STEP 1: Remove the dirty filter cage. Put on your spare clean one. Do not run your hair dryer without a filter cage.
STEP 2: Soak the dirty filter cage in dish soap and warm water for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
STEP 3: Once your filter has soaked for the appropriate amount of time, use the supplied filter cleaning brush and vigorously scrub the soaked filter cage for 15 seconds to remove all debris.
STEP 4: Rinse and dry your filter cage before you put it back on. Check that the filter cage is clean by holding it up to the light—you should be able to see light through it. If you can’t, repeat step 3.
With heat and airflow settings, how do I know which are best to use for my clients?
Supersonic is different. Our powerful, precise airflow and even, controlled heat mean that you can and should customize the settings to produce the best result for your client’s individual hair type and density.
· Thin/fine hair, Short hair = Low air/Low heat
· Medium density/texture hair = Med air/Med heat
· Thick/Coarse hair = High air/High heat
· Very Damaged hair = Low heat (airflow to match density)
· Highly textured hair that you are trying to manipulate = High heat (airflow to match density)
· Using diffuser = Low air (adjust heat to match density/damage level)
What is the discount for Professional stylists or salon owners?
Stylists with an active cosmetology license are eligible to receive an everyday stylist discount. Please have your license on hand and contact customer service at 866-861-2565 for verification.
What is the warranty and return policy?
Our warranty is 2 years—all parts and labor. And when you buy from dyson.com, we register your warranty automatically so you won’t have to fill out any forms.
If you’d like to return a Dyson machine for a full refund, you need to do so within 30 days of purchase. If you wish to return any product purchased from Dyson Direct, please contact our toll-free Contact Center at 1-866-MY-DYSON (1-866-693-9766) prior to returning your merchandise.
